What do you see as the long-term future of CHSVet...?
CHSVet has been in Practice use for over 10 years. It is built in Filemaker the worlds no 1 purpose bought database and is constantly developing according to our user's needs and Filemaker upgrades.
Cider House ICT has consistently expanded over those 10 years to provide an increasing range of services and higher levels of support. With a strong financial footing and continuing growth we expect CHSVET to develop well into the future.
Will it be cheaper...?
CHSVET does not try to be cheap - just fair. This means our general implementation and support costs are less than comparative commercial software and often below that of using a third party organisation to install open source software since, as the developers of the software, we will have an on-going relationship.
CHSVet has no ongoing license fees - only a time based support system that you can manage within your own cost constraints.
So what are the fundamental differences between CHSVet and other software providers...?
CHSVET has been developed within the industry meaning that right from the outset it was centered on user needs in real Practice conditions.
We have flexible installation methods that take into account each Practice's unique needs rather than a one model fits all approach.
We know you are a small business with limits on your financial resources and needs for high productivity.
We understand that at all times the data is yours. The Practice owner is always provided with the master password allowing full access to all data and the details on how. CHSVET is actually more "open" than some Open Source software.
We provide extensive customisation options and allow Practices to also customise as they need with relatively simple tools and no complex computing languages to be learned.
What is the CHS Vet Reporting Interface...?
CHSVet contains reports that are generated within the software with no specific need to export to external software. Every single piece of data that you enter is searchable and reportable with simple methods easily achieved by people with little computer knowledge.
What if CHSVET ceases to exist...?
We're not planning on that happening anytime soon! CHSVET has been in Practice use for over 10 years and is continuing to experience healthy growth. However, if the worst was to happen and Cider House ICT was to disappear (multiple bus crashes in multiple states and countries take out all our staff) then the database that CHSVET is written in (Filemaker Pro) has a developer network of well over 100,00 throughout the world. Any one of these developers would be able to take over support and development as you need.
Will the costs of support increase over time...?
We have no plans to increase costs beyond standard cost of living increases. In fact, our basic support cost has increased less than 1% per year since we started. No one else has kept such control over costs.
What about Support...?
CHSVet has dedicated support staff available by phone 24/7 or via email based in both WA and the Eastern states. Our software also comes with a dedicated user manual in the format of a website and is kept constantly updated and easily accessible by all staff.
Our software comes with an initial block of support and call charges are minimum of 15 minutes. There is no expiry on the support and when you use it up another block of 10 hours is billed out.
Does CHSVET require additional expensive or hard to install software to "merge" data to print...?
No - all printing of standard invoices, handouts, reports, reminders, etc is done within CHSVET. No additional software or difficult to manage merging is required. Just about all data is printed from within CHSVET and retained within CHSVET.
The one exception is labels that require 3rd party software where the developers kit does not permit direct printing. However, all data remains within CHSET with no scattered files to find and maintain.
Will my staff need retraining to use the new software...?
Staff training will be required to learn the differences in the software but being totally visual in operation a novice computer user can be productively using key features in just a couple of hours. Our software manual guides you step by step through most of the applications.
Practices transitioning from other software typically report being productive within hours and fully conversant with all of the regularly used features within 2 weeks.
Can I change the software to suit my practice...?
CHSVet is customisable to suit your needs WITHIN THE CONSTRAINTS OF OUR STANDARD STRUCTURES. ADDITIONAL CHARGES WILL APPLY.
How reliable will the software be...?
10 years of continuous growth in Practice use says it all. In fact it's not unusual for Practices to not need any support from us on a year on year basis. Having said that every Practice is different and if you need regular support then it's there as you need it.
You will only ever be charged for the support you actually need.
Will I need to upgrade my printers and computers...?
CHSVet has minimum hardware requirements to run. Provided your existing hardware meets these requirements an upgrade is not necessary and will not be forced on you.
Nor do we force you to a particular access model. Whether you prefer a simple but effective peer-peer network when you first start up, a server based model, a terminal server or a hosted service (SaaS), CHSVET can be configured to run as you need it. And as you grow and needs change no prior licensing becomes redundant. CHSVET is unique in fitting to your real Practice needs.
